As this announcement broke, all of us at Lawcris were anticipating something with big colours and character, but when Cloud Dancer was revealed, we were left feeling slightly deflated.
However, after taking time to consider the shade and everything it can offer alongside other decor choices, Cloud Dancer has grown on us. There are so many possible combinations, and white doesn’t necessarily mean it can’t be bold.

The Pantone Colour Institute has unveiled Cloud Dancer (PANTONE 11-4201) as its official Colour of the Year for 2026, this is the first time a shade of white has been given the honour of being 'colour of the year'.
Although it sounds like a huge achievement and a coveted prize in the design world, Colour Of The Year is just a prediction of what's to come in 2026 so take it with a pinch of salt.
That being said, this is a really fresh take on Pantone's colour of the year, selecting a white tone rather than a bold or pastel colour is a different approach.
Cloud Dancer is a super versatile colour which many would be able to use in their next project, maybe we will see it taking the design world by storm very soon.
Why Cloud Dancer?
According to Pantone, Cloud Dancer was chosen because it symbolises serenity, renewal and creative potential offering a visual “breath of fresh air” amid social overstimulation and complexity.
Some key reasons behind the pick include it being seen as a clean slate and mental reset ready for creativity. It's also a really versatile decor for interiors, clothing and anything else you can think of.
Cloud Dancer in interior design
Cloud Dancer could become a go-to hue for creating serene, light-filled spaces. The soft white tone lends itself particularly well to minimalist scandinavian-style interiors where light and simplicity is desired. With constant pressures being forced upon the world a calming, restful atmosphere is much needed and Cloud Dancer helps achieve that. Combining with beige textiles, concrete and soft metals Cloud Dancer can be a neutral canvas for these accents to really stand out.
A shift away from the darkside
No we're not talking about Star Wars, compared with recent colour picks Cloud Dancer marks a turning point.
Rather than grounding us in comfort or bold expression, this white tone invites reset, reflection and renewal.
Where previous colours spoke to indulgence, energy, or emotional warmth, Cloud Dancer reflects a collective desire to slow down and really think about ourselves.
