When it comes to choosing your substrate, plywood, chipboard and medium density fibreboard (MDF) are materials which lend themselves to good fabrication. We can bond panels up to a whopping 3660mm x 1525mm and 60mm thickness.

We have created a handy guide below so you can quickly reference the different types of material that we have in stock that we can bond to...

Standard MDF

MDF provides an excellent surface for laminating and is very popular. We have an enormous variety of sizes in stock which are stated below.

Please note: We do have boards that are 3660mm x 1830mm, however, we only press up to 1525mm. We have shown this dimension in the table as *3660 x 1525.

All are FSC or PEFC certified.

Fire Rated (FR) MDF
Fire Rated is a non bearing board with improved fire retardant properties. Ideal for use in public spaces where strict fire regulations must be observed.

Colour coded RED for identification. We have Class B available. All are FSC or PEFC certified.

Moisture Resistant (MR) MDF

Moisture Resistant MDF is used in places with high humidity levels. In comparison to standard MDF, Moisture Resistant MDF contains a moisture-repellent resin which gives it a better moisture resistant rating.

All are FSC or PEFC certified.

Zero Added Formaldehyde MDF

Developed specifically for use in environmentally sensitive interior applications, where formaldehyde emissions need to be kept to the minimum; museums, laboratories, art galleries, nursing homes, hospitals, nurseries and schools.

All are FSC or PEFC certified.

Black Throughout MDF

These boards are coloured black throughout to their core, allowing you to create design effects that may not be possible using standard MDF.

Ideal for commercial environments. All are FSC or PEFC certified.

Chipboard

Lawcris offer standard chipboard and moisture resistant (MR) options to bond to. It may be more budget friendly and lighter than MDF, but it does not machine as well as its buddy, MDF.

All are FSC or PEFC certified.

Plywood (Birch only)

We have a wide variety of plywood available, but suggest only using birch plywood.

That is a lot of information. If you have any questions about our bonding practices, please don't hesitate to give us a call. We have our bonding gurus on standby to help with any of your requirements.

Alongside all of this, Lawcris have an enormous range of laminates in stock (over 500 different decors, we counted!) and we can bond any of these laminates to virtually any core board at our bonding facility.

Don't forget, just because we may not stock a brand, doesn't mean we cannot get hold of it for you. Popular laminate brands that we deal with daily are Formica, Polyrey, Abet and Arpa. Take a look at our laminate offering.
